Srinagar 3, Jul 2024: National Conference (NC) leader Ahsan Pardesi has raised alarm over an unexpected change in land use plans for Athwajan Sector One. The area, currently a stone quarry, was originally slated for a sports stadium and community center. However, a board announcing an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) campus has suddenly appeared at the site.
Pardesi, speaking at a press conference, criticized the lack of transparency and community consultation in this decision. He revealed that local citizens had approached the NC seeking clarity on the matter.
The party is now calling for a government explanation, emphasizing the importance of preserving promised community spaces. While supporting educational initiatives, NC argues this should not come at the expense of local development projects.
