New Delhi, Aug: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that Article 370 Fueled the Rise of Terrorism, fostered the mindset that led to the creation of terror hubs.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with abolishing Article 370, which, according to Shah, was the key factor behind these terror operations.
Shah was speaking at an event in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where he distributed citizenship certificates to 188 refugees under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in attendance.
Shah also highlighted PM Modi’s contributions, including the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya after 550 years, the restoration of the Kashi Vishwanath temple destroyed by Aurangzeb, and the revitalization of the Pavagadh Shaktipeeth, which was demolished by Muhammad Begada. Additionally, Shah praised Modi for eliminating the practice of Triple Talaq in India.
The Home Minister emphasized that the CAA is designed to grant citizenship rather than revoke it, addressing misconceptions that it would strip Muslims of their citizenship. He pointed out that the law was introduced to provide justice and rights to millions of refugees who were neglected due to the previous governments’ appeasement policies. According to Shah, these refugees faced hardships both in their home countries and in India.
Shah recalled the plight of Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains, and Christians in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh during India’s partition and the subsequent broken promises of citizenship from previous governments. He criticized the former governments for not granting citizenship to these communities due to concerns about losing their vote banks, labeling it a grave injustice.
Shah asserted that PM Modi had corrected these historical wrongs by passing the CAA in 2019. He condemned the opposition for misleading the public about the law and urged refugees to apply for citizenship without fear, assuring them that their rights and properties would be protected.
He also mentioned that the Modi government took steps to counter the four issues he identified as major problems in Indian democracy: nepotism, casteism, appeasement, and corruption. Shah concluded by encouraging refugees to ignore attempts by the opposition to create fear and reassured them that they would receive justice under the current government.
