Says, NC-Cong will get statehood Back; Paid tributes to Sheikh Abdullah on his death anniversary

Srinagar, 8 Sep (KB): National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing the party of trying to discredit the National Conference.

Talking to reporters after paying tributes to the founding leader, Sheikh Abdullah on his death anniversary, Farooq Abdullah as per news agency Kashmir Bulletin said, “They (BJP) are scared of the National Conference. They will do everything possible to defame the National Conference but we will win and change the fate of the people,” Farooq said.

He also criticized the BJP’s vision for India, stating, “I just want to say to him (HM Amit Shah) that the India they want to make, we are against it. India belongs to everyone, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and others.”, he said.

Farooq said, “The ones who are raising questions on Muslims should know that Muslims have also contributed and sacrificed their lives for independence.” He accused the BJP of using fear tactics to influence Hindu voters, saying, “They (BJP) are only trying to scare Hindus, they think Hindus will vote for them but I want to tell them that now those Hindus are not the same Hindus.”

Abdullah also questioned the BJP’s claim that terrorism would return if the National Conference and Congress came to power. “They say if the National Conference and Congress come to power, terrorism will start again. I ask them when they abolished Article 370, did terrorism end?” he said, criticizing the BJP for failing to curb terrorism despite its decision to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

Reaffirming his commitment to restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, saying, “National Conference and Congress will ensure that we get our statehood back.”, Farooq said.

Meanwhile, National Conference leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah paid tributes to the founding leader of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and father of Farooq Abdullah, Sheikh Abdullah on his 42nd death anniversary, in Srinagar. (KB)
