Srinagar, February 10, 2025 – The CASCO T-10 Cricket Tournament, organized under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024-25, was inaugurated today at Green Valley Educational Institute Ground, Ellahibagh Buchpora, Srinagar. The event was graced by Shri Hilal Khaliq Bhat (JKPS), SP Hazratbal, who was the chief guest, along with Shri Ashiq Hussain Malik, DySP SDPO Hazratbal, Shri Ashiq Hussain Dar (JKPS), SDPO Zakura, and other senior officers.

The tournament aims to foster sportsmanship and enthusiasm among the youth while providing them with a platform to showcase their cricketing talent.

The initiative, organized by District Police Srinagar, seeks to engage young individuals in positive activities and promote social responsibility. It is also a significant effort to prevent youth from falling into negative influences such as drug abuse. Speaking at the event, SP Hazratbal Hilal Khaliq Bhat emphasized the importance of integrity, respect, and discipline in sports. He encouraged the players to approach the game with dedication and to use the tournament as a learning experience for personal and athletic growth.

The tournament commenced with two thrilling matches. The first match saw Team Batpora Zakura face Team Soura. Batpora Zakura won the toss and opted to bat first, setting a target of 89 runs after scoring 88/6 in 10 overs. In response, Team Soura struggled to chase the target and managed to score only 56/9 in 10 overs, resulting in a victory for Batpora Zakura.

The second match featured Team Lal Bazar against Team Sadrabal. Winning the toss, Lal Bazar elected to bat first and posted a competitive total of 91/6 in 10 overs. Team Sadrabal, in their chase, fell short and could only score 46/7 in 10 overs, handing Lal Bazar a comfortable victory.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Riyaz Ahmad Kathjoo, Principal of Green Valley Educational Institute, reaffirmed the school’s commitment to fostering youth development through sports and education. He expressed his appreciation for the initiative, stating that Green Valley Educational Institute will always support such programs that contribute to the betterment of the younger generation.

The CASCO T-10 Cricket Tournament will continue for four days, with the final match scheduled for February 13, 2025. The event is expected to witness high-energy matches as young cricketers from different localities compete for the championship, making it a memorable sporting celebration.
