Guru Nanak Jayanti Celebrated With Religious Fervor In Kashmir

LG Sinha, CM Omar, Farooq, Mirwaiz-Kashmir, Mehbooba, Div Com, IGP Kashmir others extend greeting to Sikh Community
Srinagar, Nov 15: The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety in Kashmir valley on Friday.
The biggest function was held at the Gurudwara Chatti Patshahi in the Rainawari area of old Srinagar where a large number of members of the Sikh community including men, women, and children thronged to pay obeisance on the occasion.
Special prayers were offered for the peace, stability, and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir and the whole of India during the occasion.
The day was celebrated with fervour in other parts of the Valley as well, including Tral, Baramulla, and Pulwama.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said Guruji’s teachings of brotherhood, love, and sacrifice inspire us to lead a righteous life and strengthen the bond of unity.
“May all of us strive to follow his noble teachings & rededicate ourselves to humanity & social equality”, Lt Governor said.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended their greetings on the occasion of Gurpurab Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Omar said that Guru Nanak Dev ji’s teachings of compassion, unity, and selfless service continue to inspire people across all communities.
The Chief Minister stated that we should continue to build a society based on mutual harmony, respect, and inclusivity.
The Chief Minister conveyed his best wishes to all celebrating on this occasion and expressed hope that the spirit of Guru Nanak Dev ji’s teachings should continue to foster unity, peace, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mirwaiz-Kashmir Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq also felicitated the Sikh community on their religious festival of Gurpurab “Our Sikh brethren have stood shoulder to shoulder with the Muslim community through thick and thin, even during the most challenging times, including the tragic Chattisinghpora incident. Despite such ordeals, they chose to remain steadfast in their bond with us,” he said.
Mirwaiz expressed hope that the ties between the communities would continue to grow . “The bond between the two communities is rooted in mutual respect and love for the land. We must ensure it flourishes further, Mirwaiz said.”
Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti also extended greetings to Sikh Community, In her greetings, Mehbooba Mufti said the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji have always laid stress on the virtues of peace, equality and brotherhood.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji is a noble personality who always taught his disciples to live a life of simplicity while helping the weak and downtrodden sections in the society,Guru Nanak ji preached compassion and love between different communities and stood firmly against inequality & discrimination, she added.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri also extended greetings to the Sikh Community on the auspicious occasion of Gurpurab- the Birthday of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
In his message, Div Com put light on the teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Ji which inspired millions of people and continues to foster spirit of peace.
He also prayed for brotherhood, communal harmony and unity among the citizens of Kashmir and entire country.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir V K Birdi today extended his heart felt greetings to the Sikh Community on the auspicious occasion of Gurpurab- the Birthday of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
In a message Birdi said that, may the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji guide us towards the path of happiness, spirituality, and inner peace.
All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina while extending his greetings on the occasion said that people should follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji so that his message of love and peace percolates down.
Among who extended greeting to Sikh Community include, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Chif Minister Omar Abdullah, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, Mirwaiz-Kashmir Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Nalin Prabhat, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Range, Vidhi Kumar Birdhi and other leaders, Officials and social activists also extended their greetings to the Sikh community on the occasion.
