Why Learning AI Is No Longer Optional
New models like ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude arrive every three to four months, and Agentic AI is spreading fast.
So the question is no longer whether to learn AI, but where and how to learn it.
Why a Good AI Degree Isn't Easy to Get
Any institute can offer an AI degree, but if you want a name people trust, you need an institution like an IIT. Around 15 lakh students sit for JEE, and this is what the ranks look like:
| Institute / Branch | Approx. Closing Rank |
|---|---|
| IIT Madras (AI-related branch) | 306 |
| IIT Mandi (AI-allied branch) | 4,000 |
| Last tier of IIITs with good placements | 20,300 |
| Colleges like GTBIT, MAIT | 55,000 to 1 lakh |
This means the offline route to an IIT stays closed for most students. Online degrees are filling that gap. IIT Bombay launched a Leadership with AI course for mid and senior professionals, IIT Delhi an executive program on AI in healthcare, and IIT Jodhpur an AI degree without JEE.
