Srinagar, Sep 14: A routine anti-tunnel search operation was in progress in Regal village of Samba this morning when the BSF found an old mortar shell buried in a field.

An official told that the operation by 125Bn BSF near BOP Regal was in progress when the shell was detected at 08:00 hrs.

It immediately carried out the securing of the area and summoned the BSF Bomb Disposal (BD) team, he said.

After inspection, the BD team successfully defused the shell at 10:40 hrs with no threat to the local population and its infrastructure in vicinity, the official added.— (KB)
